Matt Bettencourt was born on April 12, 1975 in Alameda, California. Bettencourt attended Modesto Junior College and turned professional in 2001. Bettencourt’s professional career began on the Web.com Tour and he also played on the Nationwide Tour. In 2008, Bettencourt won on the Nationwide Tour twice, once at the Oregon Classic and again at the Nationwide Tour Championship. His second win bumped Bettencourt from the 12th spot to the 1st spot on the money list, which helped him earn his 2009 PGA Tour card. Bettencourt finished 111th on the PGA Tour money list and this finish helped him keep his PGA Tour card for 2010. In 2013, Bettencourt split his playing time with the Web.com Tour and the PGA Tour. So far in his professional career, Bettencourt has recorded a total of 6 professional wins. Bettencourt has won one PGA Tour, 2 Web.com Tours, and 3 other Tours. In 2008, Bettencourt was the Nationwide Tour leading money winner.
