About Matt Barnes
Matt Barnes was a professional small forward in the NBA. Barnes was born on March 9, 1980 to a Caucasian mother and an African American father. In high school, Barnes was a two-sport athlete where he played football and basketball. Barnes was an All-American, All-State, All-CIF, All-City, and All-League in each sport. Barnes attended UCLA where he played basketball for the Bruins and earned All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention in 2001. After college, the Memphis Grizzlies selected Barnes in the 2nd round as the 46th overall pick in the 2002 NBA Draft. So far in his professional career, Barnes has played for the Fayetteville Patriots, Long Beach Jam, Los Angeles Clippers, Sacramento Kings, New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers, Golden State Warriors, Phoenix Suns, Orlando Magic, and the Los Angeles Lakers before being traded back to the Clippers in 2012. In June 2013, Barnes was named the Defensive Player of the Year for the Clippers.
