About Mallory Weggemann
Mallory Weggemann is one of the most accomplished Paralympic swimmers today.Weggemann won the 2012 Paralympic gold medal in the 50-meter freestyle.She has won 13 World Championship Paralympic gold medals and holds several world and national records.After an epidural injection for post-shingles back pain, Weggemann became a paraplegic in 2008.In 2013, she walked for the first time in almost six years.Prior to being disabled, she has been a competitive swimmer since the age of seven.She was the 2009, 2010, and 2010 Disabled Swimmer of the Year and winner of a 2011 ESPY for Best Female Athlete with a Disability.Weggemann came back to win three medals at the 2020 Paralympic Games. She is a motivational speaker, teaching people about leadership, attitude, and perseverance.
