About Luis Severino
Luis Severino is one of the pitchers in baseball. The New York Yankees originally signed him as an international free agent in 2011. Severino was named to the MLB Futures Game in 2014 and became one of the best prospects in baseball that season. He opened 2015 as the top prospect in the Yankees season and received a call-up to Triple A. Severino went 7-0 with a 1.91 ERA with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders before earning his big league promotion late in 2015. He debuted against the Boston Red Sox, pitching five innings with seven strikeouts and no walks while giving up just two hits.
In 2016, Severino entered the Yankees starting rotation for good. He had a career year in 2017, earning the first of back-to-back All-Star selections and finishing the year 14-6 with a 2.98 ERA. Those numbers were good enough for a third-place finish in American League Cy Young voting. Severino had a blistering hot start in 2017, going 14-2 with a 2.12 ERA. He finished the year with a career-best 19 wins.
Severino signed with the New York Mets as a free agent for the 2024 season.
