About Lowell Bailey
Lowell Bailey is an American biathlete who has competed in the 2006, 2010, and 2014 Olympics. He finished eighth in the individual event in Sochi in 2014. Bailey has been apart of eight World Championship teams and has competed on the World Cup circuit for 11 seasons. In 2001-12, he had two top five World Cup finishes and finished 14th in the world. A three-time Academic All-American, Bailey graduated from the University of Vermont. While in college, he finished second in both the 2003 and 2004 NCAA Ski Championships. Moving to Lake Placid, New York at the age of 10 really propelled Bailey’s career. Living around the venues that hosted the 1980 Winter Olympics was an inspiring force. Bailey is an avid guitarist who writes his own music and performs in bluegrass bands. He also plays banjo and mandolin and composed the U.S. biathlon team’s theme song.
