Laura Tomlinson Biography

Laura Tomlinson (Bechtolsheimer) is a German-born British dressage rider. Tomlinson started riding at three years old after receiving a pony for her birthday. At 12, Tomlinson competed in Pony Club eventing and won the National Championships of Independent Schools at Stonar School. Tomlinson was selected to ride at the Pony European Championship where she won a team silver medal at her first major competition. In 2005, Tomlinson became the youngest British dressage champion at 20 years old, riding Douglas Dorsey. She competed in the 2008 Olympic Games, gaining 18th place in the Individual Grand Prix Special and 6th place in the team event as well as being named British Dressage Rider of the Year. During the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games, she surpassed her personal best scores and gained three British International Grand Prix records. Tomlinson won the gold medal in the Olympic team dressage event in 2012 and she won the Bronze in the individual event with her freestyle routine.
