About Lamont Peterson
Lamont Peterson is a professional boxer who competes in the light welterweight division and is currently the IBF Light Welterweight Champion. Peterson and his younger brother were left without parents at a young age. Their father was in prison and their mother was suffering personal issues. The two brothers were homeless for several years and when Peterson was 10, boxing coach Barry Hunter noticed him and his brother. Over time, Hunter developed their boxing skills and helped shape them into amateur boxing stars. In 2001, Peterson was the 2001 National Golden Gloves Lightweight Champion and in 2003, he became the 141 lbs. US Champion. In 2009, Peterson defeated Blain in the 7th round by TKO to win the Interim WBO Lightweight Welterweight title. As a professional, Peterson has fought in 36 fights and won 33; 17 of those were wins by KO. He only has two losses and one draw.
