Kyrie Irving Biography

Kyrie Irving is a professional basketball player who plays point guard for the Brooklyn Nets of the NBA. Irving spent his college years playing for Duke University where he spent the 2010-2011 season. In the 9th game of the season, Irving suffered a severe ligament injury in his right big toe that put him on the sideline for the remainder of the season. On March 17. 2011, Irving revealed that he would be returning for his first game since December 4. Duke advanced to the Sweet 16, but fell short against Arizona; this was Irving’s last game for Duke. After playing one season with Duke, Irving declared for the 2011 NBA Draft where he was selected as the first overall pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Irving won the 2012 NBA Rookie of the Year Award as well as NBA All-Rookie First Team. The following year, Irving became the youngest player to score 40 points in Madison Square Garden. During the 2012-13 season, Irving was selected to play in his first All-Star game. He also participated in the Rising Stars Challenge again and he won the NBA Three-Point Shootout. Irving became a four-time All-Star during six years in Cleveland and was instrumental to their NBA championship in 2016. He joined the Boston Celtics via trade in 2017 and after two years there, signed in free agency with the Brooklyn Nets during the 2019 offseason.
