About Kenyon Martin
Kenyon Martin achieved success very early in his NBA career. Martin finished second in the Rookie of the Year balloting in 2001 and the next two seasons he helped the New Jersey Nets reach the NBA Finals. In 2004, he averaged 16.7 points and 9.5 rebounds on the way to his first and only All-Star appearance. Following his standout four-year run with the Nets, Martin would spend the next seven seasons of his career with the Denver Nuggets. He would not quite reach the same levels of personal success, but was a key starter for a Nuggets team that made the playoffs in six of those seasons. Martin ended his career playing four more NBA seasons and also overseas in China. The Nets originally selected him with the first overall pick out of Cincinnati. Martin’s number is retired by the Bearcats and he was the National College Player of the Year as a senior. Even in retirement, he is active in charitable efforts with his foundation that helps families in the metro Dallas area.
