About Kenny Atkinson
Kenny Atkinson is currently the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Before taking the Cavs job, Atkinson was the lead assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors and won a championship in his first year with the team. He also spent a year as an assistant for the Los Angeles Clippers after transforming the Brooklyn Nets into winners during his three-plus seasons as head coach. After totaling just 20 and 28 wins in his first two seasons, Atkinson led the Nets to a 42-40 record in 2018-19. They made the playoffs as well for the first time in four seasons. Atkinson previously had stints as an assistant with the New York Knicks and Atlanta Hawks. He entered the coaching profession with Paris Basket Racing after a 15-year playing career overseas. Atkinson spent time playing in Italy, France, Germany, Spain, and the Netherlands. Prior to going to Europe, he played college basketball at the University of Richmond and helped lead the Spiders to the Sweet Sixteen in 1988.
