Bobby Cremins

Bobby Cremins was born and raised in The Bronx, New York and played his college basketball at the University of South Carolina from 1967 to 1970. While playing for the Gamecocks he helped lead his team to a 25-3 record in 1970 and would go on to play pro basketball in Ecuador after earning his degree in marketing. After one season abroad he returned to the states and signed on as an assistant coach at Point Park College before returning to South Carolina in 1973 to earn his masters in guidance and counseling. After the 1975 season he was hired as the head coach at Appalachian State University. During his six seasons at App State he led the Mountaineers to 100 wins and an NCAA Tournament appearance in 1979 after winning their second consecutive Southern Conference regular season championship. In 1981 he signed on as the head coach at Georgia Tech, and would go on to lead the Yellow Jackets to 354 wins, an ACC title in 1996, and 11 NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Final Four appearance in 1990. After the 2000 season he left the game, only to return as the head coach at the College of Charleston in 2006. Coach Cremins retired from coaching in 2012 with 579 career wins, three ACC Coach of the Year awards, four Southern Conference Coach of the Year awards and the 1990 Naismith College Coach of the Year award to his name.
