About Kendall Simmons
Kendall Simmons started 83 games at guard in the NFL, most notably with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Simmons won two Super Bowl titles with the Steelers. He persevered despite being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes early in his NFL career. After an Achilles tear in 2008, Simmons suffered other injuries and was never able to return to his once standout status. The Steelers originally selected him in the first round of the 2002 NFL Draft out of Auburn. Simmons was a two-time first-team All-SEC pick and a third-team All-American for the Tigers. The Ripley, Mississippi native now makes Auburn his home year around. Simmons is a ambassador for Novo Nordisk, a company which produces medications and care devices for diabetics.
