About J.J. Barea
Jose Juan Barea was born and raised in Miami, Florida and played his college basketball at Northeastern from 2002 to 2006. While at Northeastern he earned AllAEC honors in four consecutive years and was named to the AEC All-Rookie Team after averaging 20.3 points and 6.4 assists during his four-year career. After his college career he briefly played overseas in Puerto Rico before joining the Dallas Mavericks as a non-drafted free agent in 2006. During his first five NBA seasons in Dallas he helped the Mavericks to an NBA Championship in 2011 and averaged over 7 points per game while also contributing over 8 points per game in the playoffs. In 2011 he joined the Minnesota Timberwolves and remained with the team until rejoining the Mavericks in 2014. Interntionally he has been a solid contributor on the Puero Rican National Team, bringing home six Gold Medals from the FIBA CBS Championship, Central American and Caribbean Games, Centrobasket and Pan American Games.
