Jose Calderon Biography

Jose Calderon played professionally in Spain for five years before joining the Toronto Raptors in 2005 as a non-drafted free agent. During his first season with the Raptors he ranked third among all rookies with 4.5 assists per game and added 5.5 points per game. He’s since become one of the premier point guards in the game, showcasing a playmaking ability that allows him to both score and lead his team to consistent winning seasons. Calderon played his first eight seasons in the NBA with the Raptors before joining the Detroit Pistons in 2013 and signing a fouryear, $28 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks in 2013. In 2014 he was traded to the Knicks where he has become one of their veteran leaders at point guard. Internationally he has represented his home country of Spain well, earning two silver meals at the 2008 and 2012 Olympic games.
