Jon Fitch Biography

Jon Fitch is one of the top Welterweight mixed martial artists in the world. He got his start in fighting as a college wrestler at Purdue University, where he was first introduced to MMA during practice sessions with professional fighters. Upon earning his degree from Purdue he began his professional MMA career as a light heavyweight and won his first four fights. Eventually he began training in multiple fighting disciplines, including kickboxing, and moved up to the Middleweight division. However, upon joining the UFC he began competing in the Welterweight division where he has since flourished. While in the UFC he was a top championship contender and got a title shot in 2008. He’s since joined the World Series of Fighting, and has posted a career record of 26-7 with 5 knockouts, 4 submissions and 17 wins by decision. Currently Fitch is the UFC record holder for most strikes landed with 2,149. Fitch fights out of San Jose, California and is a black belt in Guerilla Jiu-Jitsu.
