About Andrei Arlovski
Andrei Arlovski is one of the great heavyweight mixed martial artists in the UFC today. Arlovski is a former UFC champion and has over 20 wins in his MMA career. He got Tim Sylvia in an Achilles lock during the first round of their bout at UFC 51 to win the interim heavyweight title. Arlovski defended his title twice before losing to Sylvia in a rematch. From 2008 until 2014, he fought in a variety of other promotions outside of the UFC. Since his return to the Octagon, he is 2-0 with wins over Brendan Schaub and Antonio Silva. Beginning his MMA career at age 20, Arlovski had an amateur background in Sambo in Belarus. He first started competing in martial arts while at the police academy. Arlovski goes by the nickname âPitbullâ and speaks out against dog fighting. He also has had roles in two Universal Soldier movies.
