About Joe Tartamella
Joe Tartamella was hired as the eighth head coach in St. John’s women’s basketball history in 2012. Prior to being named head coach he served as an assistant at St. John’s for nine seasons from 2003 to 2012. Known for his recruiting prowess, he has consistently brought in top talent from around the nation since joining the staff, including the No. 1 recruiting class in the Big East in 2008. Coach Tartamella is as dedicated as they come, working hard for his players to develop comprehensive game plans and practice strategies to ensure their success on the floor. He has also served as a mentor and example for his players in regards to success, integrity and character off the basketball court. Although he is one of the top up-and-coming coaches in all of college basketball, he remains humble and grounded with the goal of continuing to get better every year.
