About Joanne P. McCallie
Joanne P. McCallie built a tremendous resume in women's college basketball. McCallie had amazing success at Maine, Michigan State and Duke. She was the first women's coach to win a conference title in four different leagues. McCallie also was named the Coach of the Year in each of those conferences. She was just the second coach to lead two different programs to a number one overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. McCallie's 2005 Spartans team made it to the national championship game. She subsequently coached the Blue Devils from 2007-2020, going 330-107. Duke made four straight NCAA Elite Eight appearances under her watch from 2010-13. After leaving the program, McCallie published her book, "Secret Warrior," in which she shared her battle with bipolar disorder. She has since become a leading mental health speaker.
