About Jimmy Howard
Jimmy Howard grew up in Ogdensburg, New York and had a stellar amateur hockey career in the Ontario Hockey League before joining the U.S. National Team Development Program in 2000. In 2001 and 2002 he played on the U.S. National Under 17 and U.S. National under 18 teams before being selected with the 64th overall pick in the 2003 NHL Draft. After being drafted he headed to the University of Maine and starred for the Black Bears for three seasons, winning 47 games and posting 15 shutouts. Upon earning his degree from Maine he joined the Red Wings minor league Grand Rapids Griffins in the American Hockey League before making his NHL debut in 2005. Since that time he has won 152 games and posted 18 shutouts during the regular season and won 21 playoff games. Howard has also been a key member of the United States National Team that competed in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games.
