About Jim Ferry
Jim Ferry is currently the head coach at UMBC and previously served as a head coach at several different schools. Ferry was most recently the head basketball coach at Duquesne. Ferry has also been a head coach at Long Island, Adelphi, and Plymouth State. In his final two seasons at LIU, the Blackbirds went to back-to-back NCAA Tournaments and won the Northeast Conference each time. The season before Ferry arrived at LIU, the team went just 5-22. He built them into a program that won 52 games and went 34-2 in the NEC during his last two years. Their consecutive 25 win seasons were the first for the Blackbirds program since the 1940s. At Adelphi, Ferry was 82-11 and the team made three successful trips to the NCAA Division II Tournament. He got his coaching start on the Division III level, having the rare experience of coaching across the spectrum of college basketball. Ferry got his start as a small school assistant coach at Bentley College and his alma mater, Keane State.
