About Jerome Walton
Jerome Walton played 10 seasons in the big leagues with the Chicago Cubs, California Angels, Cincinnati Reds, Atlanta Braves, Baltimore Orioles and Tampa Bay Devil Rays from 1989 and 1998. He got his start in pro ball after being selected in the second round of the 1986 MLB Draft out of Enterprise-Ozark Community College in Enterprise, Alabama. The Newnan, Georgia native played three seasons in the minor leagues before making his MLB debut in 1989 with the Chicago Cubs as a center fielder. During his first season in the big leagues he hit .293 with 5 homeruns, 23 doubles, 46 RBI, 64 runs scored and 24 stolen bases in route to earning National League Rookie of the Year honors. He’d go on to post a solid .269 batting average with 25 homeruns and 58 stolen bases over the course of his career.
