About Jay Monahan
Jay Monahan became the commissioner of the PGA Tour in January 2017. He originally came to the tour in 2008 as the executive director of The Players Championship. In 2010, Monahan was named the Senior Vice President for Business Development. Three years later, he became the PGA Tour's Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. Before becoming commissioner, Monahan also served as Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer. Monahan had significant experience in golf prior to taking a position on the PGA Tour. He worked at IMG Worldwide where he was instrumental in the development of the Deutsche Bank Championship. At the age of 32, Monahan served as the tournament's first director. He is also a co-founder of the charity Golf Fights Cancer. Monahan worked in another area of the sports world in sales for Fenway Sports Group.
