About James McCann
James McCann is a catcher for the Detroit Tigers. McCann originally debuted for the club in 2014. In his first start, he caught ace Justin Verlander whilealso collectingtwo hits and scoring twice. McCann spent the entire 2015 season as Detroit's backup catcher. His first three career home runs were an inside-the-park homer and two walk-off shots. He was the first player since 1932 to have that unique start to a career. In 2015, McCann also led all major league catchers in fielding percentage. He went 112 games without an error, setting a modern major league record for errorless games to start a career. The Tigers originally selected McCann in the second round of the 2011 MLB Draft out of Arkansas.
