About Isaiah Austin
Isaiah Austin is a former college basketball center for the Baylor Bears. Austin attended Baylor University where he was named to the 2013 All-Big 12 Third Team and Big 12 All-Rookie Team as a freshman. He was a key player in the NIT Championship win against Iowa. In April 2013, Austin declared for the NBA Draft, but a shoulder injury made him return to Baylor. As a sophomore, Austin was named to the 2014 Big 12 All-Defensive Team. On April 22, 2014, Austin declared for the NBA Draft for a second time. On June 21, 2014, Austin was diagnosed with Marfan Syndrome, a genetic disorder that affects the body’s connective tissue. Austin said that he would no longer be able to play basketball competitively any longer since the arteries in his heart were abnormally large. Austin was invited by Adam Silver to attend the Draft as his guest. Austin is also blind in his right eye, due to an injury from middle school.
