Ian Baker-Finch

Ian Baker-Finch is a former professional golfer. Baker-Finch turned professional in 1979. Baker-Finch’s professional career began in the PGA Tour of Australasia where he won his first tournament in 1983. The victory earned Baker-Finch an entry to the 1985 British Open. In 1985, Baker-Finch joined the European Tour and he won the 1985 Scandinavian Enterprise Open. That same year, Baker-Finch played on the PGA Tour as an invitee and he began to play of the Tour regularly in 1989. Baker-Finch won his first PGA Tour title at the 1989 Southwestern Bell Colonial. Baker-Finch played golf on 4 different continents, but he was not considered an elite golfer. Over his professional career, Baker-Finch has recorded a total of 18 professional wins. In 2009, he was inducted into the Queensland Sports Hall of Fame. After his golfing career, Baker-Finch turned to broadcasting and golf course design and management. From 1998-2006, Baker-Finch was a commentator on golf tournaments for ABC Sports. He was then hired by CBS in 2007.
