About Greg McDermott
Greg McDermott’s college basketball coaching resume dates back to 1989 when he helped lead North Dakota to five consecutive NCAA Div. II tournaments as an assistant. In 1994 he was hired as the new head coach at Div. II Wayne State College and would eventually coach at North Dakota State, Northern Iowa and Iowa State before landing his current position as the head coach at Creighton University. Since taking over at Creighton he has led the Blue Jays to unprecedented success, winning 20 games in four consecutive seasons from 2010 to 2014 and three consecutive NCAA Tournament births. In 2013 his team posted a 28-8 overall record and 13-5 conference record in route to winning the Missouri Valley Conference’s regular season championship. Coach McDermott’s career record as a head coach is 381-236. His success at Creighton has generated a lot of excitement from their fan base, who show up in mass numbers for games and to make their game day experience one of the best in all of college basketball.
