About Gray Maynard
Gray Maynard was born in Los Vegas, Nevada. At a young age the sport of wrestling became his life. His father Jan competed at Arizona State University and he desperately wanted to follow in his footsteps. After compiling a four-year high school record of 135-16 and earning a National Championship during his senior year he took his talents to Michigan State University and dominated from 1998 to 2002, winning 80 matches and posting 22 pins. During his years as a Spartan he earned All-American nods in both his junior and senior seasons, competing in the NCAA National Championships both years. After college Maynard changed his sights and directed them towards cage fighting. In 2006 he turned pro and earned competed in TFC and WEF competitions before earning a spot in the reality television show Ultimate Fighter during season 5. In the Finale he earned a spot in the UFC through a no contest decision and won his first eight fights on MMA most elite level. Over the last four years he’s been a top title contender in the Lightweight division.
