About Grant Fuhr
Grant Fuhr’s twenty-year career in the NHL was historic. Not only was he a part of five Stanley Cup championship teams, he also posted NHL goaltender records in assists with 14, most games in goal in a single season with 79, most consecutive appearances in a season with 76, and most wins in a single postseason with 16. In 1981 Fuhr entered the NHL with a splash, setting an NHL rookie record with 23 consecutive wins and earning the first of his six All-Star selections. In 1987 he was named the NHL’s top goaltender and was awarded the coveted Vezina Trophy. That same season he finished second in the NHL MVP voting. In 2001 he retired as the most respected goaltender in NHL history and was honored by having his No. 31 Edmonton Oilers jersey retired later that year. In 2003 he was honored with induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.
