About Ken Hitchcock
The coaching success of Ken Hitchcock cannot be disputed. Hitchcock was an instant winner when he took his first NHL head coaching job with the Dallas Stars.The Stars won the Stanley Cup in 1999 and only missed the playoffs in his first half-season of coaching.
Hitchcock went on to guide three other franchises to the playoffs. His 849 career victories put him among the NHL's top five coaches of all-time.
Having no professional playing experience to fall back on, Hitchcock started at the bottom in his coaching career.He coached a midget AAA team in Edmonton for a decade before getting a break with the WHL’s Kamloops Blazers. Hitchcock led them to four straight division titles before his NHL shot came as an assistant with the Flyers.His perseverance and overall career track stand as an inspiration to anyone trying to achieve lofty goals.
Hitchcock was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2023.
