About Scotty Bowman
Scotty Bowman coached in the NHL for 35 years and won a record nine Stanley Cups. In professional sports it’s hard to hang around that long, but Scotty Bowman’s results speak for themselves. As the coach for the St. Louis Blues, Montreal Canadiens, Buffalo Sabres, Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Redwings his teams notched 1,244 wins, placing him far and above the rest in league history.
When his coaching career came to a close he made his way to the front office and won four more Stanley Cups as the director of player development for the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1991, a consultant with the Red Wings in 2008, and Senior Advisor of Hockey Operations for the Chicago Blackhawks in 2010 and 2013.
In 2012 Bowman as honored by his native Canada for his contributions to hockey as a coach and mentor by being made an Officer of the Order of Canada. Currently he serves as the Senior Advisor of Hockey Operations for the Chicago Blackhawks. Though he’s working in the front office now, Bowman is widely regarded as one of the best coaches to have ever lived, in any sport.
