About Gerry McNamara
Gerry McNamara is the current head coach of the Syracuse Orange men's basketball team. The Scranton, Pennsylvania native was a star guard for Syracuse from 2002–2006, never missing a start in 135 games. He helped lead the Orange to the 2003 NCAA national championship alongside Carmelo Anthony, earned three All-Big East honors, and holds Syracuse records for career three-pointers made (400) and attempted, plus career minutes played. Nicknamed “G-Mac,” he spent 15 years on Syracuse’s coaching staff (2009–2024) under Jim Boeheim and Adrian Autry, rising to associate head coach and contributing to multiple NCAA Tournament runs. He served as head coach at Siena College from 2024–2026, guiding the Saints to a 37–30 record, the 2026 MAAC tournament title, and an NCAA Tournament appearance where they nearly upset Duke. In March 2026, Syracuse hired the program legend as its ninth head coach to lead the Orange into a new era.
