About Gary Payton
Gary Payton is a former professional point guard for five teams in the NBA. Payton attended Oregon State University. During his sophomore year at Oregon State, his grades dropped and his father told him to focus on his grades. During his four-year career at OSU, Payton became one of the most decorated basketball players in school history. Payton was named Pac-10 Player of the Year, Consensus first-team All-American and he helped lead the Beavers to three NCAA Tournament appearances. The Seattle SuperSonics selected Payton as the second overall pick in the 1990 NBA Draft. Payton also played for the Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat. In his career, Payton was a 9x NBA AllStar, 2x All-NBA First Team selection, 5x All-NBA Second Team selection, and a 9x NBA All Defensive First Team selection. He was also an NBA Champion in 2006 with the Miami Heat.
