Frank Vogel

Frank Vogel had a tremendous run in the NBA as a head coach at many stops, most notably guiding the Los Angeles Lakers to a championship. Before his Lakers run, Vogel built a reputation as one of the NBA's best coaches during his time with the Indiana Pacers and Orlando Magic.

Vogel played basketball in college at Juniata College and then transferred to the University of Kentucky. During the 1994-95 season, Vogel served as a student manager for the Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball team. Vogel’s coaching career began with the Boston Celtics where he served as the head video coordinator. Vogel remained in this position for five years before being promoted to assistant coach.

In 2004, Vogel left the Celtics to become the assistant coach for the Philadelphia 76ers, where he only spent one year. He left the 76ers to spend a year as an advanced scout for the Los Angeles Lakers and a year with the Washington Wizards. In 2007, Vogel became the assistant coach for the Indiana Pacers.

Vogel was named interim coach of the Pacers in 2011 when Jim O’Brien was fired as head coach. Vogel led the Pacers to the playoffs for the first time since 2006 and was officially signed as head coach. He helped get the team to the 2012 Eastern Conference Semifinals where they lost to the Miami Heat.

Under Vogel's guidance, the Pacers reached the Eastern Conference Finals each of the next two seasons. Following the 2016-16 season, he took over the Orlando Magic and coached the franchise for two years.
