About Gail Goestenkors
Gail Goestenkors is a women’s basketball coach who coached in college and the WNBA. Goestenkors started her basketball career as a point guard at Saginaw Valley College, playing with the team for four seasons. Following her graduation, Goestenkors turned her focus to coaching, serving as a graduate assistant at Iowa State and Purdue for the next seven years. In 1992, Goestenkors was named the head coach at Duke University, where she would win ACC Coach of the Year seven times along with 13 NCAA Tournament appearances and eight conference championships. After leaving Duke in 2007, Goestenkors signed on to be head coach at the University of Texas. Goestenkors took a year off from coaching in 2013, but returned in 2014 as an assistant with the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks and then served as an assistant with the Indiana Fever in 2015.
