Francena McCorory

Francena McCorory is a track and field athlete who is known for running the 40o meters and holds the NCAA and American indoor record. McCorory’s talent was noticed in high school. In 2009 at Hampton University, McCorory won the 2009 NCAA Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships. Later that year, she finished third in the NCAA Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships. McCorory was qualified for the 2011 World Championships in Athletics. In the semi-finals of the 2011 World Championships in Athletics, she cut her time down again. During the finals, she finished fourth in her first experience on the world stage. A few days later, she helped the United Stated team win a gold medal in the 4X400 m relay. McCorory participated in the 2012 Summer Olympics and competed in the 400m and 4X400 m relay. She finished 7th in the 400m final and ran the third leg of the 4X400 m relay. She qualified for the 2013 World Championships and at the 2014 World Championships she won the gold in both the 400m and the 4X400 m relay.
