About Fran McCaffery
Fran McCaffery is the head men's basketball coach and back at his alma mater at Penn. McCaffery previously had a 15-year tenure at Iowa from 2010-25, making seven NCAA Tournament appearances. The Hawkeyes arguably had their best season under his watch, winning the Big 10 Tournament and going 26-10.
McCaffery got the job with the Hawkeyes after three straight tournament appearances with Siena. He has also been the head coach at UNC-Greensboro and Lehigh, going to the NCAAs with each school once. In between his stints at those schools, he was an assistant at Notre Dame for 11 seasons. He also had assistant stints at his alma mater, Penn, and Lehigh before being named the youngest active coach in Division 1.
