About Edward Joyner Jr.
Edward Joyner Jr. has achieved significant success with the Hampton basketball program. The Pirates made back-to-back NCAA Tournaments in 2015 and 2016. They scored their second-ever tournament win in 2015, with a 74-64 victory over Manhattan. The following year, Hampton swept the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles. Overall, Joyner's teams have won three MEAC Tournament championships. He is the winningest coach in the school's Division 1 era. Prior to becoming head coach, Joyner was an assistant at Hampton for three seasons. He began his coaching career with 11 seasons as an assistant at Johnson C. Smith. During his final five years at the school, he also served as the lead assistant to the women's basketball team.
