About Ed Cooley
Ed Cooley is the head men's basketball coach at Georgetown. He was hired by the school after effectively rebuilding the Providence basketball program. The Friars made seven NCAA Tournament appearances in 12 years. In 2014, Cooley made his first March Madness appearance as a coach by leading Providence to victory in the Big East Tournament. Eight years later, the Friars won the Big East regular season and Cooley was named Coach of the Year in the conference.
Prior to becoming head coach of the Friars, Cooley posted a 92-69 record in five seasons at Fairfield. The school posted back-to-back 20-win seasons in his last two years there. After joining Al Skinner's staff for a season at Rhode Island, Cooley had a lengthy apprenticeship as an assistant at Boston College. In nine seasons with the program, the Eagles made five NCAA Tournaments. After being a three-year captain at Stonehill College, Cooley's coaching career began with a season at UMASS-Dartmouth and his alma mater.
