About Doc Holliday
Doc Holliday was born in West Virginia and grew up loving the game of football. It is only fitting that he is one of the most successful football coaches in West Virginia history. After starring as a linebacker at the University of West Virginia from 1976 to 1978 he joined the coaching staff as a graduate assistant and eventually as a full-time assistant in 1981. For the next 18 seasons he coached wide receivers, linebackers and served as a associate head coach. In 2000 he accepted an opportunity as an associate head coach at NC State and served in that same role at Florida State and again at West Virginia before heading to his current post at Marshall University. Marshall hired Holliday as their head coach in 2010 and has slowly made them one of the top programs in the country. In 2013 the Thundering Herd posted a 10-4 record and captured a Conference USA Title with a 7-1 C-USA record. In 2014 he followed that up with one of their best seasons on record, going 11-1 and capturing their second consecutive Conference USA Championship.
