About Diane Crump
Diane Crump is a trailblazer for women in horse racing. Crump was the first woman to ride as a jockey in the Kentucky Derby. She was also the first woman to ride in a pari-mutuel race in 1969 at Hialeah Horse Track Park. She carded over 200 victories in her career, which she retired from in 1999. Crump still stayed active in the sport working in equine sales. A biography about her, Diane Crump: A Horse Racing Pioneer's Life in the Saddle, was published in 2020.
