About Larry Collmus
Larry Collmus is a Thoroughbred horse racing announcer best known as the voice of NBC Sports' Triple Crown and Breeders' Cup coverage. Growing up in Baltimore, Collmus developed a love for horse racing, visiting local tracks with his friends.
At age 18, he called his first race at Bowie Race Track, modeling his tone after broadcasters such as Jack Whitaker and Jim McKay. In 1987, at age 20, he became the nation's youngest announcer at Birmingham Turf Club in Alabama. He traveled all across the country until joining NBC in 2011.
He called American Pharoah's 2015 Triple Crown—the first in 37 years—and Justify's 2018 Triple Crown, plus Breeders' Cup races annually. His call of the 2015 Belmont, "The 37-year wait is over," became iconic.
His passion for the sport extends beyond the booth. He is an avid fan on social media, often engaging with fans and sharing his thoughts on current horse racing events.
