About David Thompson
David Thompson played nine seasons in the ABA and NBA with the Denver Nuggets and Seattle SuperSonics from 1975 to 1984. Prior to joining the Nuggets as a first round pick in 1975 he was a standout performer at North Carolina State University, leading them to an undefeated 27-0 season in 1973 and an NCAA National Championship in 1974. During his three seasons at NC State he averaged over 27 points and 8 rebounds a game in route to earning College National Player of the Year and ACC Player of the Year honors twice in 1974 and 1975 and consensus First-Team All-American honors in three consecutive seasons from 1973 to 1975. Upon joining the Nuggets he earned ABA Rookie of the Year honors in 1996 along with earning All-ABA Second Team and ABA All-Star Game MVP honors. After earning ABA All-Star honors in 1976 he went on to earn four NBA All-Star selections and All-NBA honors twice in 1977 and 1978. Thompson retired in 1984 as a member of the SuperSonics with 13,422 career points and 2,446 career rebounds. In 1996 he was honored with induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
