About Darrell Griffith
Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, Darrell Griffith has little desire to play his college basketball anywhere other than the University of Louisville. He went on to bring his hometown their first NCAA Championship in 1980 while having one of the greatest seasons in UL history. In the 1980 Championship season, Griffith scored a school record 825 points while being named an All-American as well as the Wooden Award for college basketballs top player. Griffith went on to spend 12 seasons in the NBA with the Utah Jazz, starting out with a bang by averaging 20.6 ppg and winning the NBAs Rookie of the Year in his first season. Griffith continued to be a main contributor for the Jazz, compiling 12,391 points throughout his career, averaging 16.1 ppg. Two years following his retirement in 1991, the Jazz recognized Griffith for his production by retiring his number.
