About Darrel Chaney
Darrel Chaney was a standout athlete from Hammond, Indiana who had plenty of options coming out of high school. He had several D1 football offers, several others for baseball, and then when he committed to Ball State University where hed be allowed to play both, he was drafted into the MLB by the Cincinnati Reds. Chaney spent 3 seasons working his way through the Reds minor league system before earning a spot with the club as a rotational shortstop. Chaney was a member of the Big Red Machine teams in the early 70s who went to three World Series, winning one of them. Chaney went on to spend his final few MLB seasons with the Atlanta Braves, following which he joined the team in the booth as their announcer. Chaney is a former Chairman of the Board for the Major League Alumni Marketing. He has also worked in sales and marketing for a retail services organization.
