Dana Altman

Dana Altman is a collegiate basketball coach who currently serves as the head coach at The University of Oregon. In terms of his education, Altman has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Eastern New Mexico University, along with an associate degree in the same field from Fairbury Junior College. Altman was a basketball player at Fairbury and ENMU, but turned his focus to coaching after graduating. Following his graduation, Altman served as an assistant at Western State before accepting his first head coaching job at Southeast CC and then at Moberly CC in 1983. Three years later, Altman moved up to the NCAA levels as an assistant with Kansas State University from 1986 until 1989 when he took the head coaching position at Marshall University. At Marshall, Altman led the Thundering Herd to a 15-13 record in one season at the helm, leaving in 1990 to coach at Kansas State. After four seasons at KSU, Altman moved to Creighton University, where he would coach for 16 seasons, going 327-176 along with eight conference titles. He then left Creighton in 2010 to become head coach at the University of Oregon, where he has coached for five seasons, going 103-49 with one conference title.
