About Dan Uggla
Dan Uggla was a MLB second baseman who was selected to three All-Star teams. A high school All American out of Tennessee, Uggla attended the University of Memphis. At Memphis, Uggla was an All American in his junior season, and he was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 11th round of the 2001 MLB Draft. For the next four years, Uggla would compete in the Diamondbacks’ minor league system before being claimed by the Florida Marlins in the Rule 5 Draft. Uggla then began the 2006 season with the Marlins, playing the entire season and making his first All Star game. During his time with the Marlins, Uggla evolved into a premier second baseman, making two All Star games and winning a Silver Slugger award. In 2010, Uggla was dealt to division rival the Atlanta Braves, where he would play well in the first two seasons, but fell apart in 2013, leading to the Braves to cut ties with him in 2014. Uggla finished 2014 with the San Francisco Giants and is now a part of the Washington Nationals.
