Dale Brown

Dale Brown is the legendary head basketball coach that spent the majority of his career with the LSU Tigers. Prior to his coaching career, Brown was a standout athlete in multiple sports, setting multiple state records in both basketball and track in North Dakota. Following his college days, Brown began his coaching career at the high school level from 1957-1966. Brown then went on to join the staffs of Utah State and Washington State as an assistant coach, before being offered the LSU job in 1972. Brown went on to spend 25 years at the helm of the LSU program, turning the Tigers into a perennial power house year after year. In his 25 years at LSU, Brown broke almost every coaching record in school history, recording 448 wins and 13 NCAA Tournament appearances, including 10 in a row from ’83-’93. While being one of the most respected people to the LSU community, Brown was known for his vocal critics of the NCAA, whom he said had a “witch hunt” to find a violation against his program.
