About Claude Humphrey
As the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 1968, Claude Humphrey made a quick impression on the NFL. Humphrey compiled 126.5 sacks in his 13-year NFL career, playing in 171 games. As a prototype NFL defensive lineman, Humphrey was built to last; at 64 and 250 lbs. he only missed 2 games in his first 7 seasons. Throughout his career he was selected to 6 Pro-Bowls and was named to five first-team All-Pro teams. After a devastating knee injury, Humphrey retired from the game in 1978 but returned to the game shortly after. He spent the first ten years of his career with the Atlanta Falcons and finished with the Philadelphia Eagles. Humphrey never wavered in his play, recording 14.5 sacks in one of his final years with the Eagles that helped the team to an appearance in Super Bowl XV. In 2014 Humphrey was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
