Chuck Martin Biography

Chuck Martin is a college football coach that made a name for himself as the head coach of the DIII powerhouse Grand Valley State Lakers. After serving as an assistant under head coach Brian Kelly, Martin got a chance to lead the Lakers when Kelly took the job at the University of Cincinnati. Martin took over the job and compiled a 74-7 record throughout his 5 seasons as the head coach at GVST. He brought the Lakers to three Division III National Championships, winning two of them. He also led them to a record breaking 40 consecutive wins from 2005-2007. In 2010 Martin got a call from his former mentor, Brian Kelly, and joined him as an assistant at the University of Notre Dame. As an offensive coordinator, Martin helped lead the 2012 Fighting Irish to an undefeated season and a berth in the BCS National Championship game. After the season, Martin took his first DI head coaching job as the head coach for the Miami (OH) University Redhawks.
