Charlie Weatherbie

As a quarterback for Oklahoma State University, Charlie Weatherbie had the X’s and O’s of the game of football down pat. Following his college days, Weatherbee pursued a professional career in the Canadian Football League before hanging up the cleats and picking up the clipboard. He began as a graduate assistant for his alma mater before quickly working his way up through the ranks of Wyoming, Air Force, and Arkansas. In 1992, Weatherbie took over the Utah State program and quickly turned them around, leading them to the Big West Conference Title and a Las Vegas Bowl victory in just his 2nd year. After three seasons with the Aggies, he became the head coach of the United States Naval Academy where he stayed for the next 7 seasons. Weatherbie had his best season with the Navy in 1996 when he led the Midshipmen to a 9-3 record and an Aloha Bowl victory. When he left Navy in 2001, Weatherbee’s next job came in 2003 with Louisiana-Monroe where he again quickly showed promise with the team, winning the Sun Belt Conference title in his 3rd season. He retired following the 2009 season with a career 76-115 record including a perfect 2-0 bowl record.
